outfit of the night | handmade burger co. | we're getting old bro
vampire weekend
My little brother turned sixteen last week and to celebrate I bought us tickets to see Vampire Weekend at the new Hydro venue in Glasgow. The building looks like a spaceship, it's transparent so you can see lights on the underside of the stairs inside, as well as the changing exterior lights - we stood and stared at it for a good five minutes, its awesome! We'd stopped to devour our current favourite for dinner, Handmade Burger Company, beforehand, and although we though we were running late, we arrived super early. Typical. Our seats were disappointing - I've promised myself that I'll never sit at a gig again - but we had such a good night, Noah and the Whale were an amazing support as people poured in the door and Vampire Weekend themselves were so fantastic. Whoever designed their stage set is a genius, I'd quite like some of that floral print to wallpaper my whole house with, please and thank you.
Listen to this through headphones and prepare to be bowled over. This little lady's voice is nothing short of lush and 'Ribs' is doing a grand job of getting stuck in my head - I've had her album, Pure Heroine, on repeat constantly over the last week and every time 'Royals' comes on the radio, the volume is instantly cranked up. Lorde's absolutely everywhere at the moment and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
Confession: I found it odd that a 17 year old had gotten away with calling her album pure heroin, before realising there was a sneaky 'e' on the end there...duuuh.

The last couple of weeks have been pretty hectic and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I recently started a lovely new job and the workload at college is steadily increasing but I've realised that I'm much, much happier now than I was a few months ago. If you're stuck in a situation that makes you miserable and you can do something about that, get out...
Bastille are the band whose music I play ALL. THE. TIME. In the car, getting ready in the morning, when doing college work, in the shower...you name it. This could quite easily become the most one sided post you ever did see.
It was actually my Mum that managed to snag four tickets for the gig at Glasgow's O2 Academy on October 29th, only a couple of weeks beforehand. Plenty of time for learning lyrics and turning myself into the fangirl I fear that I have become. Oops...
They did not disappoint at all, with a generous dose of tracks from their album and a couple from their stunning mix tapes. I can hardly wait to hear the recorded versions of new songs The Draw, Campus and Blame after hearing them last week. Their newest single Of The Night and Pompeii rounded things off, with the entire room pogo-ing like their lives depended on it.
I didn't take many photos or video clips, I far prefer to focus on what I can actually see in front of me! During Dan's venture into the crowd whilst performing Flaws, the crowd went a bit mental and I became the witness of a girl trying to lick his face. Well done, Glasgow.
I'm not 100% sure how I would sum up how incredible I thought they were, however the highlight of the night for me was hearing Daniel in the Den live - for some reason I wasn't expecting them to play it and I am so, so glad that they did.
My brother really liked Mancunian five-piece Swiss Lips' set, but it was the second support, Dan Croll that caught my attention. I hadn't heard any of his tracks before but In/Out, Home and From Nowhere have all been regularly played on Spotify since. I'm excited to hear his debut album at the start of next year.
I'm not sure when Bastille are next playing Glasgow but when they do,
